Update on Services For Henry Wallitsch

Update on Services For Henry Wallitsch, who passed away at age 83 due to Natural causes.

Ring 8 VBA has been in close contact with the Family of former Ring 8 VBA President Henry Wallitsch since his passing on Dec 31st, 2018.
.

The Family has decided to hold Private, Family- Only Services in Nevada and in New York . There is no timetable set for either service at this time.

R.I.P. – Henny Wallitsch

I just found out that Former Heavyweight fighter and former President of Ring 8, Henny Wallitsch passed away yesterday at the age of 83 in Nevada.
.

Henny fought some of the top heavyweights of the 1960’s including Ernie Terrell,, James J. Beattie, Bob Stallings, Franco De Piccoli, Bartolo Soni and Bobby Halpern. He also served as Ring 8 President from 2005 to 2008.

His body will be brought back to New York and there will be a service at that time. When I receive more details on the funeral arrangements I will pass it on.

Season’s Greetings from the Board of Ring 8

On behalf of the Board Of Directors of Ring 8 V.B.A., we would like to wish all our members and guests a joyous and wonderful Holiday Season and New Year.

The 2019 New Year promises to be a fun filled active year bringing the Best in boxing to our doorstep.We stay committed to helping boxers and those who dedicated themselves to the sport .

Our motto “Boxers Helping Boxers” has been a tradition since the organization was founded on October 15, 1953 and we stay on course to aid all those in need.

Our 2018 Ring Awards Holiday Event was a success honoring those in the boxing sport who hail locally from the New York area as well as some of the biggest stars in todays ring. Thank You to outgoing President Jack Hirsch for a fine job, who along with Vice President Henry Hascup and ex-Pres. Bob Duffy oversaw the dinner and its magnificent turnout-once again.

We are Proud to announce that Ring 8 has made a generous donation to the IBF Toys for Children Drive in New Jersey for this Holiday Season.

I want to Thank the Ring 8 Broad of Directors for electing me the new President of Ring 8. The new Vice President will be Frank Pena. Frank is leader in the New York State amateur boxing scene. Together we feel confident that with hard work and with the aide of the Board of Directors , Ring 8 will continue to be successful as it has been for many years.

Details of our January meeting at O’Neills Rest. will follow in January. Hope to see everyone there.

Ring 8 Holiday Party Better than Ever!!!

Just when you think out going President Jack Hirsch can’t top his latest event, he does just that. Last year he brought in Vasyl “Hi Tech” Lomachenko and Michael Spinks, as well as several other world Champions. This year he brought in current World Champions, Terence Crawford, Oleksandr Usyk, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, Alicia Napoleon, PLUS former World Champions such as Riddick Bowe, Vito Antuofermo, Iran Brakley, Junior Jones, PLUS the #2 WBA Heavyweight Contender Jarrell “Big Boby” Miller.

Among the other honorees was Congressman, Peter King, Brian Kenny, Steve Weisfeld, Brian McIntyre, Johnny Turner, Edgar Berlanga, Julio Albino Salinas, Robert O’Connell, Jeff Jowett, Lisa Elovich, Willie Vargas and Pat Russo.

CONGRATULATIONS goes out to President Jack Hirsch and his committee, especially Bob Duffy for an OUTSTANDING JOB!

Ring 8 Holiday Party – BREAKING NEWS – Terence Crawford & Oleksandr Usyk are added to the list of Honorees

President Jack Hirsch has reported that Terence Crawford, who is rated by many as the best pound 4 pound fighter in the World, will be receiving the Muhammad Ali International Fighter of the Year Award, AND Oleksandr Usyk, the Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion of the World will be receiving the Historical Award. They will be among the honorees that will honored at our Holiday Party on Sunday, December 9th at Russo’s on the Bay, starting at 12:30 PM.

Among the other honorees are Former Heavyweight Champion of the World, Riddick Bowe, Congressman, Peter King, top heavyweight contender Jarrell “Big Boby” Miller, former Middleweight Champion of the World, Vito Antuofermo, International Manager of the Year, Brian McIntyre, Uncrowned Champion, Johnny Turner, New York State Prospect of the Year, Edgar Berlanga, receiving the Sam Kellerman Media Award will be well known broadcaster Brian Kenny, Community Service Award goes to Julio Albino Salinas, New York State Female Fighter of the Year, Alicia Napoleon, Ring 8 Member of the Year, Robert O’Connell, longtime boxing writer, Jeff Jowett, will receive the Long & Meritorious Award, one of the most respected and top boxing Judges in the sport, Steve Weisfeld will receive the New York State Official of the Year Award, the New York State Promoter of the Year Award goes out to Lisa Elovich, the New York State Trainer of the Year Award goes to Willie Vargas and the Ring 8 Good Guy Award goes to Pat Russo.

Ring 8 Pictures & Notes of Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at O’Neill’s Restaurant

President Jack Hirsch opened the meeting and Paulette Balog led us in our Flag Salute and 10 Count.

President Jack Hirsch talked about our up-coming Holiday Party on Sunday, December 9th.

Alicia Napoleon, the WBA World Female Super Middleweight Champion, who will receive the New York State Female Fighter of the Year Award at our Holiday Party spoke about her career, her coach, her husband and others, who has supported her throughout her career.
