Ron McNair is a retired 20-year veteran of the NYPD
He also served as a NYC Transit Police Officer & NYC Correction Officer.
Ron has been a RING 8 member since the early 1980’s.
Boxing has been a big part of Ron McNair’s life. He has been a TREMENDOUS ALI fan since 1968. In 1969 Ron started hitting the heavy bag in his dad’s garage.
In 1978 Ron started training at the Famed Times Square Gym.
He was trained by RING 8 NEW YORK STATE HOF TRAINER JImmy Glenn.
Ron was a Finalist in the NY Daily News Golden Gloves 178 lbs sub novice class.
In 1988 Ron was appointed Boxing Inspector by the NYSAC. In 1997 to present he is a Professional Judge. He has judged many International boxing matches. In 1990 – for 18 months-he was hired by Directors International as a researcher for the 10-hour DOCUMENTARY MUHAMMAD ALI THE WHOLE STORY.
Ron enjoys reading about the old-time fighter and has amassed one of the world’s largest boxing book collections. Ron has great respect for the deceased fighters and often visits their grave.
