The monthly executive board meeting of the Veteran Boxers Association of NY, Ring 8, Inc. was held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., at O’Neill’s Restaurant, Maspeth, New York.

Board members in attendance: President, Matt Farrago, V.P. Henry Wallitsch, Lenny Mangiapane, Lou Raino, Bob Duffy, Jack Hirsch, Henry Hascup, Johnny Breitenbruck, Dawn Avila, Keith Sullivan, Paulette Balog, Richie O’Neill, and Joe Dwyer and John Labate.

The following items were discussed:

1. How we can help members that are hospitalized, in need of support, or in need of assistance from their “brothers.” Arrangements for Jackie “ Tonawanda ” Garrett’s funeral service has been made for June 19th and 20th. Contributions made at the dinner totaled $460.

2. Ring 8 was in attendance on June 12th at Capitale’s to show support to Jack Hirsch, a member of our Board of Directors, and also president of the Boxing Writers Association of America.

3. Ring 8 is in the process of officially revising the name of our charter to “International Veterans Boxing Association of New York, Inc., dba Ring 8.”

This will be official with the Office of the State Attorney General and the IRS.

4. It was agreed that Ring 8 would like to present Budd Schulberg with a “Lifetime

Achievement” Award. Once the plaque arrives, members of Ring 8 will personally present the award.

5. Ring 8 is in the process of organizing a “Ring 8 Tournament” to provide another opportunity for local amateur boxers to showcase their skills.

6. Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.

7. Our next meeting will be at O’Neill’s Restaurant, Tuesday, July 21st, 2009, at 7:00pm. Board of Directors will meet at 6:00pm.
