Alicia Napoleon & Pat Day to speak on Thursday, February 21st – Ring 8 meeting at Plattdeutsch Park Restaurant

Ring 8 VBA will hold the next meeting on Thurs. Feb 21, 2019 at the Plattdeutsche Rest. located at 1132 Hempstead Tpk., Franklin Square, NY 11010 starting at 7pm.
–Please note date change to a Thursday due the Restaurants closure on Tuesdays.
Our guests this evening will be “2018 Ring 8 Female Fighter of the Year” Alicia Napoleon, from Lindenhurst, NY and WBC Continental Super Welterweight Pat Day from Freeport, NY
Both are making their moves in the Ring and 2019 will be big years for both.
Alicia Napoleon was bestowed with our “Ring 8 Female Fighter Of The Year” award this past December at Russo’s on The Bay.
This well deserving boxer grew up on Long Island and intoduced to Boxing in her late teens.
She began traing at age 18 in Manorville, NY and competed in her first Tournament at age 20.
An amateur for 9 years, she comprised a record of:
Winning 11 Amateur titles Nationally; including 2 NY Golden Glove Championships, 4 Metropolitan Championships, an Empire States Game victory, and a National Golden Gloves Title.
Alicia turned Pro in 2014 and won her first 7 fights.
In 2016, she challenged for the WIBA and UBF Super Middlewt. Title against undefeated Tori Nelson and lost an Unanimous Dec. Alicia quickly rebounded with a UD win over Nicolett Papp at Resorts Casino in Queens.
In 2018, Alicia signed with Lou DiBella Promotions and captured the WBA Super Middlewt. Crown in a 10 Rd UD over Femke Hermans in the Barcley Center. She has one title defense UD over Hannah Rankin at the Nassau Coliseum. Her record stands at 10 (Kos)-1 awaiting her next title defense.
“Dreams do come True” she says. ” It just takes a little Blood, Sweat and Tears, and thats okay. It increases your Faith by believing in what you meant to do. Never give Up !!”.
Alicia now fights out of Lindenhurst ,Long Island and has Ring 8 in her corner supporting her career.

Pat got a late start in fisticuffs, but made up for lost time by becoming a NY Gold Glove Winner in 2012 at age 18. He then went on to become USA Boxing National Champion and was alternate to Team USA in the 2012 Olympic Games.
Presently Pat at age 26, and sports a record of 17 (6 Kos)- 2 (1ko)-1 and is ranked 10th in the World by the WBC, and soon to be in top 10 by the IBF.
In 2017, he won the WBC Continental Super Welterweight title by defeating undefeated Eric Walker at the Nassau Coliseum. Since, he defended his title 3 times by defeating WBC Super Welterweights Kyron Davis, Elvan Ayala and in his last defense, two weeks ago, defeated Ismal Iliev on the undercard of the Kovalev- Alvarez in Texas with a UD. Pat also took home the vacant IBC Inter-Continental Super Welterweight title that nite.
Fighting out of Freeport ,Long Island with Stablemate Seanie Monaghan, who was a guest of Ring 8 a few months ago, trainer Joe Higgins has another proven winner in his hands.
Higgins says ” this kid grew up across the street from me, he is a nice kid, a gentleman, but when he gets in the ring, he is fast, tags you real hard then moves well left and right.-A tough fighter to find and hit in the ring”
Pat resides in Freeport, Long Island and has a degree in Nutrition from Kaplan Univ. Pat says ” My education is important to me, I’m not just a Boxer”
Ring 8 VBA will be sponsoring the USA-Metro Masters Tournament on Sunday February 24, 2019 in Hempstead, Long Island in an afternoon show. Location : Hempstead Boxing, 335 Greenwich Street, Hempstead, NY 11550 Weigh-in 2pm Boxing Show 4:30pm. Let us support USA-Metro Boxing with a nice turnout.
Also, Ring 8 supported the Northport VA Hospital by contributing to their Super Bowl Party for the VA veterans in residence. Bob Duffy has been assisting in this effort for many years to help our Veterans enjoy the day with food and refreshments for the Big Game. Thank You Bob.
Ring 8 is Proud to announce to Our membership that Henry Hascup will be Inducted into the Atlantic City Boxing HOF this coming June 23rd at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City, NY.
Henry is the President of the New Jersey Boxing HOF and our past Vice President, and is our Recording Secretary for many years.Other names to be inducted Hopkins, Witherspoon, Duran, Barkley, Ward just to name a few on this big weekend. We will have more info at this meeting.
A reminder that 2019 dues $30 are always in order and will be collected at the door along with the $5 dinner buffet charge.
